6 Winter Skin Care Tips

6 Shaklee winter skin care tips

Winter Skin Care Tips

Lower temperatures mean less moisture in the air. Winter weather pulls moisture from your skin, leaving it rough, dry, and dull. Overheated rooms in most homes this time of year offer no relief from the drying effects of the season. Below are some of our top tips to keep your skin well-cleansed and moisturized all winter long.

  • Start with clean skin  Use a gentle, natural ingredient-based cleanser free of artificial fragrances or questionable chemicals like our YOUTH Luminous Gel Oil Cleanser. After using a cleanser, follow with a toner, like our YOUTH Perfecting Skin Toner, to deep clean your pores, hydrate, exfoliate, nourish, and remove any last traces of grime.
  • Avoid super hot showers  Let’s face it, hot showers in the winter are one of the best feelings we can have after a chilly day outside. Super hot showers can be harmful to our skin, though, especially when skin is already dry or irritated. So, this season, keep your showers at a tolerable temperature and be sure to apply a moisture-rich face cream like the New YOUTH Moisture Lock Day Cream and body lotion when you’re done to lock in hydration.
  • Embrace night time If you’re not using your beauty sleep to nourish your skin, then you’re officially behind on the latest winter skin care routine! Ensuring you get eight or more hours of sleep is vital to healthy skin—especially in the colder months.Take advantage of downtime by slathering on a night cream—such as our YOUTH Advanced Renewal Night Cream—for a dreamy, hydrating slumber.
  • Use a Hydrating Serum  Serums should be used all year round, but especially in the extra-drying winter months. Serums are designed to be light in texture, fast absorbing, and highly concentrated so they can deliver more nutrients to your skin. Try layering our YOUTH Moisture Activating Serum underneath your regular moisturizer for ultimate protection against the weather outside.
  • Always use lip balm There are so many lip balms on the market that work during the warmer months but can’t meet the challenges of winter. Many lip balms just sit on top of your skin rather than penetrating deeper for better protection against chapped lips. Check out our Lip Treatment SPF 15 and use it every day to help protect your skin from both UV exposure and the drying effects of winter weather.
  • Perfect your skin with BB cream  And here’s the cherry on top: enhance your glowing skin this winter to achieve a flawless look. You can achieve this with a BB cream that doubles as a moisturizer and a subtle foundation to even out your skin. YOUTH Activating BB Cream offers SPF protection as well, so you can perfect, nourish, AND protect your skin.

5 Fall Skin Care TIps

Fall Skin Care Tips

The transition into the fall season also means a change in the way our skin behaves.
5 Shaklee fall skin care tips
Changes in fall brings increased incidence for dry skin and dull skin tone.  Also, for some people who are more prone to acne, they can even experience breakouts due to dryness leading to dead cells blocking pores.

You will need to make some small changes to ensure your skin stays healthy. To help you out, here is a list of tips to keep your skin glowing throughout the fall season:

  • Moisturize  During the cooler months it’s important to opt for a heavier moisturizer. Try switching to a creamier formula that has hyaluronic acid in it, such as our YOUTH® Moisture Lock Day Cream, which quenches dehydrated skin and protects it from future moisture loss. Creams that contain hyaluronic acid also have added anti-aging benefits, so you can be glowing all autumn long.
  • Stay Hydrated  When the weather gets cooler, sometimes it’s easy to forget that we still need to be drinking six to eight glasses of water a day to stay hydrated. Yes, it’s difficult when you just want to sip on hot coffee or teas for warmth, but those hot beverages dehydrate you even more. When your body gets dehydrated, it causes a dull, dry skin tone which leads to more fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Use Sunscreen  The sun doesn’t disappear during fall and winter. Generally, the intensity of UVA radiation does not fluctuate significantly throughout the year so damage can still occur. Sun damage can happen every day, even when it’s overcast or 30 degrees outside. While it is true that UVB rays—which can cause sunburn during summer—aren’t as strong during fall, UVA rays—which can lead to skin cancer and wrinkles—are just as strong as they are during the hotter months. We recommend using a moisturizer that is formulated with an SPF, such as our YOUTH Age Defense Mineral Moisturizer or YOUTH® Activating BB Cream , to keep your skin hydrated and protected against UV damage.
  • Try a Face Mask  Fall  Chilly nights curled up by the fireplace with a good book or your favorite TV show. These nights are the perfect time to pour a nice cup of tea and pamper yourself with an at-home face mask. For drier skin, try a hydrating gel mask to lock in moisture and give your skin that extra glow. Or, for clogged pores, try a purifying clay mask to absorb any excess toxins and leave your skin flawlessly beautiful. Having multiple skin problems? No worries, just try one of our multi-mask solutions to target all of your skin care issues this fall.
  • Make Healthy Food Choices  Our skin often showcases what’s going on inside of our bodies as well, which is why it’s important to eat healthy. Fall has plenty of amazing fresh produce—such as pumpkin, squash, and kale—that you can purchase locally and create delicious meals with. For those of us on the go who don’t have a lot of time to cook, try a multivitamin to ensure your body is getting the nutrients it needs to stay healthy.
